When I was an intern at Magnum during the mid-1980s, I was able to attend a talk given by Magnum photographer Philip Jones Griffiths about his body of work documenting the war in Vietnam. I asked him how did he understand the difference between taking photos of war then doing corporate photos of executives and other defense contractors, who made weapons of war that may have killed or injured the people he was photographing.
